Joy McDonald, NP

Joy McDonald, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, was born and raised in Charleston, SC, and continues to reside there. She completed her pre-nursing courses at Charleston Southern University before transferring to the Medical University in January 1995. By December 1996, Joy had earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She furthered her education at Herzing University, where she obtained a Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing with a focus on family care. Her specializations include family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health (including obstetrics and gynecology), urgent care, adult health, and geriatrics.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Joy served as a registered nurse for twenty-four years in the Lowcountry and New York City. She recently married Mr. David McDonald Jr. and is the eldest of five sisters. She takes great pride in her three children. Her eldest is a medical writer living in Chicago after earning a PharmD degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Her son is currently majoring in healthcare administration at Charleston Southern University. Her youngest child began studying at the College of Charleston just last fall. Joy’s aspiration for her patients is to encourage excellent moderation in all aspects of life, with the ultimate goal of enhancing health for the whole family.
